READ: Can anyone create a podcast?
If you've even thought about starting your own show then you should at least record a pilot episode. I tell everyone who asks me for advice when starting their own podcast that the very first episode is going to be TERRIBLE.
Do not wait for the perfect episode, there is no perfect episode. You're not going to edit out all of the "ums", do not try to re-record because you should have said something differently. What I've learned since publishing my first episode in 2015 is that whatever you may record may not be accurate to how you feel at the moment you play it back but it was how you felt at the moment the question or topic was brought up.
As long as you can get over the fact that the first episode is going to be terrible then you can take that episode and make every next episode better than the last one, or at least aim for that.
There's a few things you need to create one, but for the majority of people, they are easily obtainable. If you have an internet connection which you clearly do, given that you're reading this, then you're halfway there.
We'll talk more about how to start in a moment, but the bottom line is that there's no gatekeepers in podcasting. Nobody can prevent you from making your own show. So yes, anyone can start a podcast.
Right now I have two active shows, Minorities in Business and Who's Producing This Anyway?. You can check them out below.
